Betta splendens is one of the most popular fish that are found in the freshwater hobby. Males are prone to high levels of aggression and should not be housed together. Bettas can live in a community tank with small peaceful nano fish if the aquarium is large enough (10 gallons plus).

Bettas have an organ known as the labyrinth organ and therefore they are air breeders and can tolerate low oxygen levels. We recommend to keep your aquarium filtered and heated they are a tropical fish and prefer warmer temperatures (76-82F). Most bettas prefer a lower to neutral ph (6.0 to 7.0). You can always lower your PH naturally with wood, leaves or any other aquarium safe botanicals that release tannins in your water.
